Counseling Services

All services available to our community are client-centered and based on shared understanding and collaboration. To fit the unique needs of individuals seeking services, we offer the following therapy options: traditional psychotherapy, walk and talk, home-based, play therapy, and telemental health.

Traditional Psychotherapy

Side Sofa

This therapy modality aims to mitigate social, developmental, behavioral and emotional difficulties, while reframing irrational thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, and feelings through conversation. Talking and thinking through struggles, in order to gain insight and problem solving abilities, is highly utilized with this modality.

Walk and Talk

Street Walking

Let's begin the work of moving forward, both literally and figuratively, since studies show that exercise is good for the mind and body. For some clients, adding a little movement to counseling enhances engagement and self-discovery. Walk and Talk Therapy combines the best of both worlds by adding together the benefits of exercise and counseling. With this modality, clients are met at their preferred walking venue.

Play Therapy

Playing in Nursery

This modality is primarily used to help children ages 3 to 12 explore their lives and freely express repressed thoughts and emotions through play. Play Therapy aims to help children learn healthier ways to express themselves, form respectful relationships, have more positive interactions with others, and discover effective ways to solve problems in a positive manner.

Telemental Health

Limited by location or time constraints? Telemental Health is a convenient, economical, and accessible alternative to traditional face-to-face therapy. Services are offered through a secured connection over the internet through email, video conferencing, online chat, or a phone call. This modality has many of the same benefits of traditional, with the added bonus of enhanced convenience.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

The EMDR approach believes past emotionally-charged experiences are overly influencing your present emotions, sensations, and thoughts about yourself. For example, “Do you ever feel worthless although you know you are a worthwhile person? EMDR processing helps you break through the emotional blocks that are keeping you from living an adaptive, emotionally healthy life. EMDR uses rapid sets of eye movements to help you update disturbing experiences, much like what occurs when we sleep. This modality helps you update your memories to a healthier, more present perspective.
